Q: WHAT IS A BIVOUAC?
A: "/Bivo͞oˌak/ An improvised encampment constructed of natural materials such as those used in scouting and mountaineering."
Q: IS BREAKFAST INCLUDED?
A: Yes, a delicious continental style grab and go breakfast with healthy options is included in the price of the bed or room. Fresh fruit, granola, cereals, yogurt, fresh locally roasted coffee, orange juice, and an assortment of bagels, muffins and hot breakfast sandwiches are available for free each morning from 7.30-9am
Q: DOES THE BIVVI HAVE AN OUTDOOR HOT TUB?
A: Yes, we do. The Bivvi has two 8 person outdoor hot tub that overlook our beautiful courtyard and the surrounding box canyon valley. Don’t forget your swim trunks.
Q: DOES THE BIVVI SERVE WINE AND DELICIOUS DRAFT BEER?
A: YES! Our full bar and restaurant are not officially open, we are serving a selection of delicious craft beer and wines, as well as cocktails and liquor. So come take a seat with us at the bar and enjoy a cold one- Cheers! Or, take a drink to enjoy in our hot tubs or next to one of our raging fireplaces!
Q: DOES THE BIVVI HAVE WIFI?
A: Yes, we have high speed wireless internet throughout the entire property. If you need the password, please see a staff member.
Q: DO YOU HAVE SKI OR BIKE STORAGE FOR MY ADVENTURE GEAR?
A: Yes, we have a room dedicated to storing outdoor equipment. Bike wall racks are utilized during the summer months, while ski/snowboard racks with boot drying storage are used during the winter.
Q: IS THERE A BUS TO THE MOUNTAIN / TOWN FroM THE BIVVI?
A: Yes, The Bivvi is located on the SMART bus route making it easy to get to and from the mountain/town for just $1 you can hop on the bus across the street and ride into Telluride town, however it doesn’t run super frequently so ask a staff member or keep an eye on the schedule.
Q: CAN I WALK TO THE MOUNTAIN / TOWN FORM THE BIVVI?
A: Unfortunately not, we are located about 10 miles outside of the downtown Telluride area, but, as a result we’ll be setting up our free tip based shuttle so you can catch a ride ONLY during the winter ski season at weekends (Thursday-Sunday), to and from the mountain from around 8am to 5pm. There is also a local SMART Bus service, which runs year round, picking up and dropping off right out front of the hostel a few times everyday. It will take you into downtown Telluride for just $1 per trip!
Q: IS THE BIVVI DOG FRIENDLY?
A: Although we love our furry little friends, we sadly do not allow dogs, cats, rabbits, sloth bears, helper monkeys or any other pets to spend the night. It is simply too difficult to keep the rooms to our standard of cleanliness while allowing them to stay. If you have a service animal, we will allow them to stay with you of course, but it limits you to one of our private rooms, and we have a few rules we’d request that you follow.
Q: ARE THE BATHROOMS SHARED?
A: All of the rooms at The Bivvi have bathrooms. If you are in a private room you will have a private bathroom. If you are in a shared room you will share the bathroom with only the people staying in your room. We also have two large communal powder rooms in the great room/bar area of the hostel.
Q: WHAT TIME IS CHECK-IN?
A: Check-in time is 4pm. If you’re arriving early, we will gladly can hold you bags for you until your room is ready.
Q: I'M ARRIVING LATE AT NIGHT. WILL THERE BE SOMEONE AVAILABLE TO CHECK ME IN?
A: There is a staff member on-site 24 hours a day at The Bivvi. If you plan to arrive after 10pm, please inform us by emailing us or calling us, and we can arrange a late check in where we will leave an envelope out for you containing keycards and all the information you’ll need!.
Q: WHAT TIME IS CHECK-OUT?
A: Checkout is at 11am daily. We do not allow for late checkout; however, if your going out for the day we can arrange to hold your bags. And yes, you are always welcome to use the shared spaces at The Bivvi.
Q: DO YOU ACCEPT WALK-INS WITHOUT A RESERVATION?
A: Yes, we will accept walk-ins until 10pm.
Q: IS THERE FREE PARKING AT THE BIVVI?
A: Yes, you can park your car right out front of the Bivvi.
Q: WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY AT THE BIVVI?
A: Cancellations 15 days or more from the reservation check-in date forfeit full deposit amount. Cancellations 14 days or less from the reservation check-in date forfeit full amount of reservation.
Q: ARE CHILDREN ALLOWED AT THE BIVVI?
A: While we do like children, The Bivvi is designed for adults and openly serves alcohol throughout the building. Due to this, we do not accept children under the age of 18 in our dorm rooms, or our private rooms even if they are accompanied by an adult.
Q: I'M A THRU-HIKER. CAN I MAIL MYSELF A RESUPPLY BOX TO THE BIVVI?
A: Yes, if you would like to mail a resupply box to The Bivvi please address it to: The Bivvi Hostel, 22332 CO-145, Placerville, CO 81430. We ONLY accept resupply boxes from UPS and FedEx. Please write your name along with an approximate date of arrival on the box. If you wish to send packages via USPS please send it to General Mail at the Telluride Post Office where you can collect your package upon arrival to town.
